WHAT ARE MICROBES?

Microbes are single-celled microorganisms. They are the oldest life forms on earth; they have even existed hundreds of millions of years before dinosaurs. Microbes are everywhere! There are some microbes known to cause diseases in humans, yet most are essential for humans to live. (T-1,T-2)

TYPES OF MICROBES

There are seven types of microbes, each which looks and functions specifically. Click on the buttons to learn more.

More widely known as 'germs' that cause diseases. However, they assist in many advantageous things as well.

The simplest and tinest of microbes. 'When a life form is not a life form'. (T-4)

They are not plants, nor animals, yet they are still living organisms that could be either delicious or poisonous.

Much more than a 'special type of bacteria'.

These worms can cause mild discomfort to deadly diseases.

A large, diverse group of organisms that could be plant-like, animal-like, or fungi-like

Newly discovered microbes consisting only of proteins that have been linked to many serious illnesses.
